Abstract
For the sample of about 800 starburst galaxies the luminosity functions are considered based on the data of luminosities of galaxies in the recombinationНα emission line in the regions of ionised hydrogen and the ultraviolet range. We find the luminosity function parameters for the starburst galaxies with Нα and ultraviolet luminosities and show that they differ from the Schechter function. Both the measurement errors ofemission fluxes and the galaxy luminosity evolution on a time scale of a few million years after a starburst are discussed as plausible factors whichhave influence on the luminosity functions. We show that both effects cannot explain deviations of the observed luminosity functions from theSchechter function in its entirety.
